9 Holy Grail Skin Care Favorites Of 2018

I wanted to make a list of items that I really enjoyed and repurchased thought out 2018. I feel that I have a good skin care routine now and I have my cystic acne under control with the help of this supplement. All of these products work really well for me and my skin. Also none of them break the bank.

Alba Acnedote Deep Pore Wash I really like using this to deep clean my face once a week when I use the exfoliating brush head on my facial brush. I bought the spin brush during black Friday sale.

Yes to Cucumbers Hypoallergenic Facial Wipes These do a great job of taking off any makeup that i might have on and they leave your face feeling clean. Honestly any of their wipes work well, but the cucumber wipes are my favorite scent.

Yes To Cucumber Micellar Water I like to use this for heavy eye makeup, eyeshadow, eyeliner or lash glue that I might have on. It does a good job of removing everything and cleaning my eyes. Again any of their Micellar water works, I just love the cucumber scent.

Aztec Secret – Indian Healing Clay I like to use this once a week to really get in the pores of my skin. As the clay dries it sucks all of the nasty junk out of your pores, think of it as a vacuum. Just make sure to moisturize after really well since it can be very drying.

MARIO BADESCU Facial Spray With Aloe, Herbs and Rosewater I love this spray. I”ll admit i went through the first bottle a little too quickly because I keep spring myself with it. I like to use this after washing my face and right before applying my moisturizer. The smell is divine.

Pacifica Wake Up Beautiful Mask This mask is my last step in my skin care routine. I have been using this since fall now and it does a great job with the couple of dry patches that I have on my face. It’s very hydrating and smells amazing.

Pacifica Sea Foam Complete Face Wash I use this wash daily. It has coconut water which is a natural toner, skin balancer and cleanser. The sea algae extract, helps with moisture content and brightness.

Pacifica Beauty Kale Lux Oil-Free Multi Cream I use this every night after washing my face and using the rosewater spray. Not a lot of people like the smell of it but honestly I like the smell. It is great for acne. After i run out i will most likely keep using it even though I seem to have my cystic acne under control by using this supplement.

FORMULA 10.0.6 Keep Your Cool Mask I use this mask whenever I have a breakout. Which consists of maybe one or two very tiny zits that appear around the time of my period. This mask will help with redness and shrink the zits.

Pacifica Haul | Natural Makeup

I was really interested in giving Pacifica a try, since they are more natural in the makeup department. They have so many products from skincare to makeup to perfume. I have bought a few of the skin care products and really enjoy them. The Wakeup Beautiful Over Night mask that they have is great for dry skin. Anyways I was browsing on ulta during Cyber Monday for some sales and stumbled across these items. None of the items I bought were part of any deal or sales at the time, I didn’t find anything I really wanted besides the Urban decay Naked Heat Palette for 50% off. Which I did buy, really like.

Anyways here are what I picked up from Pacifica

Crystal Blur Illuminating Foundation
Ultra CC Cream Radiant Foundation
Alight Multi-Mineral BB Cream
Cherry Matte Mattifying Primer
Crystal Primer Powered Up
Crystal Dew Setting Spray

A illuminating foundation is not something I have yet to try.
I’ve also another item I have never tried a CC Cream before so I was curious about this type of product and how it will work for me. They also label it as a foundation, so that’s interesting too. I haven’t been able to find a BB Cream that I like, that isn’t too heavy or cakey, so I’m hoping this one will be it. I heard that the matte primer is really good and lots of people like it. I thought that both the crystal primer and setting spray were interesting since they claim to have crushed rose quartz crystal powder.

October- What I’m loving

I thought I would share with you some of the items I have been enjoying for the month of  October!

Candles

I bought so many fall smelling candles from Bath and Body Works I can’t even begin to pick and choose which ones are my favorites but I do really liking Evening Hearth (can’t find on the web site), Autumn woods & Sweater Weather.

New shoes

Who doesn’t love new shoes because I know I do.  I got 2 new pairs of Champion Gusto from Payless when they had a BOGO sale. I picked the Grey jersey/ coral and Turquoise/black. In total with tax I only paid $39. Not bad for 2 pairs. I love the Turquoise pair, its such a fun color!

Things I’m Loving Right NowThings I’m Loving Right Now

New phone

For the last few months now I have been wanting to upgrade my Iphone 7. Well we  finally did it! I upgraded to the new iPhone XS and picked the gold color and my husband picked out the space gray. I. LOVE. IT. The camera is awesome. Its a little odd not having a home button and keeps throwing me off but I’ll live.

Skincare & Haircare

For hair I have been reaching for Evo Salty Dog Salt Spray and Not Your Mothers Girl Powder Volumizing Hair Powder. I really like this combo together with Design.Me Hair Fab.Me which is a 18 in 1 leave in treatment. Hask Chia Seed Volumizing Dry Shampoo is a favorite dry shampoo of mine and will be buying a third bottle soon. It leaves little to none white residue when applying. Garnier Fructis Deconstructed Pixie Play has been a staple of mine for the last four years since I went pixie. It does not make your hair greasy, unless you use too much. It is a must for me.

Right now for skincare  I’m loving the aloe, herbs and rosewater facial spray from Mario Badescu. It smalls so good! I use this in the morning before I put any primer on for my makeup and after I take off all my makeup at night before I apply my moisturizer. I have been using to set my makeup too! Neutrogena Healthy Skin Glow Sheers I like on days that I don’t really want to wear makeup but want to wear a little something.

Makeup Brush Cleaning with Dr Bronners Soap

I try to wash my brushes and sponges every week, because who wants to use the same brush or sponge on your face. I have tried different ways and so far this is the easiest way that works for me. I made my own makeup brush mat for cleaning and it works pretty good. It was kinda fun to make and super easy.

What I use:

Dr Bronners Organinc Sugar Soaps-I like the Tree Tea soap.

Homemade brush mat-  random Tupperware lid with hot glue patterns.

Step One-

I get all of my brushes  and sponges wet, some weeks it depends on if i put any eye shadow on or not, I mostly use makeup sponges. Then I pump some soap on my fancy homemade brush mat.

Step Two-

After getting the brushes/sponges wet and I then start swirling them on to the brush mat with the soap to clean them. Rinse and repeat untill the water from the  brush/sponge is clear. You want to make sure the water doesn’t go on to the metal/handle since the glue can weaken.

BEFORE:

AFTER:

Step Three-

Once all of the brushes/sponges are rinsed and cleaned I take a towel and squeeze ay extra water out and  set them out to dry on a towel. A drying rack for brushes would speed up the drying time but,  I don’t have one and I think my cats would think its a toy for them.

So there you go, thats how I clean my brushes/sponges. Nothing fancy.

I have a whole google document of lists that  have made and I keep adding more to it. We all have been there, trying to come up with a blog post and drawing a blank.  So I thought I would share some ideas to help jump-start those creative juices.

My More Consistent Skincare Routine

Since my My Nightly Routine or Lack of One post, my skin care routine it has changed. I am a lot more consistent with it. Some items I still use and some are new that I have found and enjoy.  It may seem like a lot to some but so far this has been helping my skin behave.

Also everything that I use is affordable, all under $15 depending where you choose to purchase and where you live.  I have linked every product that I listed to their website.  I bought these products from a variety places, such as Target, Walmart,  the products website or local health food stores near me.

Skincare Routine

Daytime

First lets start with the mornings and what steps I take to get ready for the day.

Toner

For toner I still use Dr Thayer’s Lavender and aloe vera with witch hazel toner ($10.95). I love how it smells and makes my face feels clean.

Spot Treatment

I use the Alba Botanica Acnedote Invisable Treatment Gel ($8.99). I just dab it on any zits that pop up and done.

Vitamin B3 Serum

I use the  The Ordaniry Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% serum by ($5.90).  Which helps with blemishes and can help brighten the skin tone.

Moisturizer

I also still use Earth Science Almond-Aloe Face Moisturizer ($10.99). Lightly scented and makes the skin feel so soft.

Then after that has soaked into my skin I apply my makeup depending on the day.

Night Time

At night I use a little more products and some of them are that same as the morning.

Makup Remover

For removing my makeup I will use Alba Botanica good & clean™
dual textured exfoliating towelettes ($4.72) or Yes To Tomatoes Detoxifying Charcoal Micellar Cleansing Water ($8.99). Both of these work really well taking off any makeup I have on my face. I alternate each one for no reason I just rally like both. The towelettes are nice to have since they have a smooth side and a exfoliating side. The charcoal micellar water is pretty neat, it comes clear with charcoal on the bottom and when you are about to use it you shake it to mix the charcoal.

Face Wash

To wash my face I use Alba Botanica Acnedote Deep Pore Wash ($6.19). This face wash has really helped my troubled areas of acne, as long as im consistent with it my face behaves. I still will get the occasional small zit, which is normal and easy to deal with, but not so much of the huge painful cyst acne I frequently get. Those are just so painful, horrible looking and hard to deal.

Toner

For toner, I again use  Dr Thayer’s Lavender and aloe vera with witch hazel toner ($10.95).

Exfoliating Facial-2 times a week

I use The Ordinary’s AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution ($7.20). AHA (Alpha hydroxy acids)  exfoliate the top layer of  skin for a brighter and even skin.  BHA (Beta hydroxy acids) exfoliates deeper in  the skin to  help clear pore congestion. Tasmanian Pepperberry which makes this peel reddish in color,  helps reduce the irritation associated with acids. The Vitamin B5 helps with healing and black carrot as an antioxidant. Since you only use 2-3 drops a few times a week this  bottle will last you  forever.

Spot Treatment

I use again if needed the Alba Botanica Acnedote Invisable Treatment Gel ($8.99).

Vitiman C Serum

I use the Ascorbyl Glucoside Solution 12% by The Ordinary ($12.90). Vitamin C is an effective antioxidant,  helps brightens the skin tone and reduces signs of ageing. Two drops is more than enough for you face and neck, this bottle has lasted me for months.

Antioxidant Serum -3 times a week

I use The Ordinary’s Alpha Lipoic Acid 5% ($6.80). Alpha Lipoic Acid is a potent antioxidant and can restore skin appearance, improve skin texture and tone.  It is also very sensitive to sunlight so it is recommended to be used at night.  Again since you only use 2-3 drops a few times a week a bottle will last for ever.

Moisturizer

I then finish up with  Burt’s Bees Sensitive Night Cream  ($15.00) at night.  It is on the pricey side for me, but a little bit goes a long way. I bought this on whim, since i was looking for a night.

Through out the week I do use other mud masks and peels that I have depending on what my skin is doing at that moment. I also have been using a spin brush that I picked up and I have notice a great improvement since pairing it with the Deep Pore Wash. But I think that will be another post in time.

Well I hope you enjoyed reading!
