I use to be someone that had to wash my hair almost everyday, especially when I had long hair down to the middle of my back. Now for the past 5 years I have had short pixie like hair, which at the moment, is now a jawline length bob. I only wash my hair 2 times a week max. Normally during the weekend and some time in the of the week. It was pretty easy for me to go longer in between washes since it was so short when I first started. If you have longer hair it might take a little longer to transition to fewer washes but is doable.
START EXTENDING WASHES
If your someone who washes your hair every day, try to make the switch to every other day. As you extend the time between washes, your hair will slowly produce less and less oil as you are no longer stripping your strands of the natural oils your scalp produces. Wash your hair less and you’ll notice that you will be able to extend even longer between washes.
Here are a few tips that can help with the transition for washing less.
TIP #1: DRY SHAMPOO
Dry shampoo is great for days in between washes. You can also spray your roots before going to bed. Adding some dry shampoo to your hair at night before bed will help absorb oil sweat and odor while you’re sleeping, which is when your scalp produces the most oil.
TIP #2 APPLE CIDER VINEGAR
Mix ¼ cup of apple cider vinegar with 1 cup water. Work it through your roots and rinse well with warm water. ACV helps to restore the scalp’s PH levels and removes buildup without stripping them from its natural oils.
TIP #3 DISTRIBUTING OIL
Gently brush through your hair with a real boar-bristle brush which will distribute the natural oils from your scalp through the length of your hair. Start at the roots and use fluid strokes to help the oil travel down the shaft of your hair. This is helpful before going to bed too. This will make your morning easier (less bedhead and knots), but it will also prevent the buildup of oil on the scalp overnight. The oil will wash away from the roots when you shower, it will prevent the buildup that can cause you to need to wash more frequently, and it will naturally conditioned
TIP #4 SHAMPOO
Stick to a gentle shampoo, that’s free of silicones, sulfate and paraben’s. Also don’t forget to brush before lathering up.
The first few weeks of training your hair may take some getting used to.
Here are some of the things I really enjoyed and reached for a lot in the month of November.
Pacifica Face Lotion
I picked up 2 lotions by Pacifia one is a overnight Wake Up Beautiful Mask and the other is Kale Luxe Oil-Free Cream. The Kale Luxe, is good for helping improve appearance of healthy skin texture, tone and brightness. Its also good for acne prone skin. I apply after doing my nightly face routine, of washing and toning. Then right before bed for little extra hydration, I apply the Wake Up Beautiful Mask on. Boy, does my face feels so soft when I wake up. I am loving this combo so far for winter. I have also noticed that my foundation doesn’t cling to any dry patches that I might have.
Morphe Eyeshadow Palettes
Both the Jacklyn Hill Palette & 35M Boss Mood Artistry Palette are to die for. The colors are gorgeous and buttery. I have no need for primer when I use ether palette and the staying power is great. I don’t know which one is my favorite out of the two, it would have to be a tie. I almost got the Jacklyn Hill Vault Collection instead of the Boss Mood Palette, but then I saw the color story of it in the store and decided for the price and how many shadows you get compared to the 4 and it’s almost the same color story. I thought it was a win win.
Always Cold Club Coffee Mug
I finally got my hands on a coffee tumbler by Girrlscout. I just love it! I have a few more of her items that are in her shop. I can’t wait for our trip next month to use my Overnight Shit bag, which goes great with my Face Shit makeup bag.
Soph x Revolution Highlighter Palette
I was in the need for a highlighter palette. The Soph x Revolution Palette gives me 8 different options to pick from. I love the pink and purple highlight the most out of this palette. They add just a little extra something.
Design.Me Quickie Dry Shampoo & Puff Me Up Light
I really like their Quicke Me Light Dry Shampoo. I picked up the light one for blondes and pastel hair because I have a light pinkish purple color at the moment. It works really well at soaking up any oil I might have in my hair and makes it look so fresh. Puff Me Up Light is one of my favorites to use to add volume to my hair. A couple of puffs in my hair and we have some big hair.
Sally Hansen 7 In 1 Nail Treatment
So I had acrylic nails on for about 3 months (had fills done in that time) and finally it got to the point that they were starting to lift a bit on a few nails. I figured it was time to say goodbye and let my nails breathe. Since then I have been putting the Complete Care 7 in 1 Nail Treatment Sally Hansen. They are looking so much better now, I apply nightly before bed.
