4 Tips on washing your hair less

I use to be someone that had to wash my hair almost everyday, especially when I had long hair down to the middle of my back. Now for the past 5 years I have had short pixie like hair, which at the moment, is now a jawline length bob. I only wash my hair 2 times a week max. Normally during the weekend and some time in the of the week. It was pretty easy for me to go longer in between washes since it was so short when I first started. If you have longer hair it might take a little longer to transition to fewer washes but is doable.

START EXTENDING WASHES

If your someone who washes your hair every day, try to make the switch to every other day. As you extend the time between washes, your hair will slowly produce less and less oil as you are no longer stripping your strands of the natural oils your scalp produces. Wash your hair less and you’ll notice that you will be able to extend even longer between washes.

Here are a few tips that can help with the transition for washing less.

TIP #1: DRY SHAMPOO

Dry shampoo is great for days in between washes. You can also spray your roots before going to bed. Adding some dry shampoo to your hair at night before bed will help absorb oil sweat and odor while you’re sleeping, which is when your scalp produces the most oil.

TIP #2 APPLE CIDER VINEGAR

Mix ¼ cup of apple cider vinegar with 1 cup water. Work it through your roots and rinse well with warm water. ACV helps to restore the scalp’s PH levels and removes buildup without stripping them from its natural oils.

TIP #3 DISTRIBUTING OIL

Gently brush through your hair with a real boar-bristle brush which will distribute the natural oils from your scalp through the length of your hair. Start at the roots and use fluid strokes to help the oil travel down the shaft of your hair. This is helpful before going to bed too. This will make your morning easier (less bedhead and knots), but it will also prevent the buildup of oil on the scalp overnight. The oil will wash away from the roots when you shower, it will prevent the buildup that can cause you to need to wash more frequently, and it will naturally conditioned

TIP #4 SHAMPOO

Stick to a gentle shampoo, that’s free of silicones, sulfate and paraben’s. Also don’t forget to brush before lathering up.

The first few weeks of training your hair may take some getting used to.

January Favorites

I cant believe January went by already! Hope everyone is is having a good start to the new year! We are just going to jump right in to my favorites for the month of January.

Pacifica Glow Greens Beauty Powder

So pacifica came out with beauty powders, one for sleep, skin, probiotics and stress. Im not going to lie, when I saw that they were coming out with supplements, I was so happy and wanted to try the one for the skin. I am finishing up my 1st bottle of the Glow Greens and will be opening the a second one in a few days. You don’t even know your drinking greens! It has a lemon flavor and is so good. I drink this every night with my vitamins.

UpSpring Reproductive Support

For a while now I have been battling with some pretty bad hormonal cystic acne along my jaw and chin. No amount of exfoliating or deep cleaners has completely cleared it up even with my spin brush. I didn’t want to be on medication, so I found an alternative solution. So far, I’m on my third bottle and my skin has not had a flare up once. It’s so clear and good looking its unreal. Mind blowing, honestly! I do still get the occasional, what I call pop ups (tiny/small zits that are gone by the next day) but nothing like before where it would be weeks going into months where I would have a cystic zit.

I mainly bought UpSpring Reproductive Support solely to try on the hormonal acne but it also has added benefits for reproductive health, and it also helps with female fertility and  libido. Shatavari helps with hormonal balance, Black cohosh supports increased fertility and pregnancy and Maca with  libido.

Overtone Vibrent Purple

Well I went back to purple hair and used the overtone vibrant purple deep conditioner. It smells so good and minty. I always go back purple, there is just something about purple hair, its my favorite.

Static Nails Glue

Im not sure what Staic Nails does with their nail glue but it is amazing. Their nails are great also but that nail glue is the shit. I also have use the glue with other glue on nail brands and it works just as well. Im talking, these nails aren’t going anywhere for 3 weeks. And did I mention the glue is only $4! I have tried other glues and after a day or two the nails pop off. Right now im trying to use up some of my other glue on nails from kiss and other brands that I have bought in the past before I buy more from Static Nails. But I will be ordering more from them for sure.

New Glasses

So I ordered some more glasses from Zenni Optical. I couldn’t decide between the the black or tortoiseshell cat eyes so I got both, and I’m so glad I did. I love the clear frames also! Not sure which ones are my favorites.

November Favorites

Here are  some of the things I really enjoyed  and reached for a lot in the month of November.

Pacifica Face Lotion

I picked up 2 lotions by Pacifia one is a overnight Wake Up Beautiful Mask and the other is Kale Luxe Oil-Free Cream. The Kale Luxe, is good for helping  improve appearance of healthy skin texture, tone and brightness. Its also good for acne prone skin.  I apply after doing my nightly face routine, of washing and toning. Then right before bed for  little extra hydration, I apply the Wake Up Beautiful Mask on. Boy, does my face feels so soft when I wake up. I am loving this combo so far for winter. I have also noticed that my foundation doesn’t cling to any dry patches that I might have.

Morphe Eyeshadow Palettes

Both the Jacklyn Hill Palette & 35M Boss Mood Artistry Palette are to die for. The colors are gorgeous and buttery. I have no need for primer when I use ether palette and the staying power is great. I don’t know which one is my favorite out of the two, it would have to be a tie. I almost got the Jacklyn Hill Vault Collection  instead of the Boss Mood Palette, but then I saw the color story of it in the store and decided for the price and how many shadows you get compared to the 4 and it’s almost the same color story. I thought it was a win win.

Always Cold Club Coffee Mug

I finally got my hands on a coffee tumbler by Girrlscout. I just love it! I have a few more of her items that are in her shop. I can’t wait for our trip next month to use my Overnight Shit bag, which goes great with my Face Shit  makeup bag.

 Soph x Revolution Highlighter Palette

I was in the need for a highlighter palette. The Soph x Revolution Palette  gives me 8 different options to pick from. I love the pink and purple highlight the most out of this palette. They add just a little extra something.

Design.Me Quickie Dry Shampoo & Puff  Me Up Light

I really like their Quicke Me Light  Dry Shampoo. I picked up the light one for blondes and pastel hair because I have a light pinkish purple color at the moment. It works really well at soaking up any oil I might have in my hair and makes it look so fresh. Puff Me Up Light  is one of my favorites to use to add volume to my hair. A couple of puffs  in my hair and we have some big hair.

Sally Hansen 7 In 1 Nail Treatment

So I had acrylic nails on for about 3 months (had fills done in that time) and finally it got to the point that they were starting to lift a bit on a few nails. I figured it was time to say goodbye and let my nails breathe. Since then I have been putting the Complete Care 7 in 1 Nail Treatment Sally Hansen. They are looking so much better now, I apply nightly  before bed.

7 Things I’m Loving Right Now

1. New Hair Color

What more can I say? I love this color. I used Cosmic Sunshine, Porange, Sunset Orange and Electric Paradise. All from Arctic Fox. I just mixed until I liked the color.  I plan on putting Electric Paradise over it once it starts fading badly.

2. New Furniture

Earlier this week we got our taxes, we went and bought a new coffee table, sofa & loveseat  and kitchen table and chairs set. The couches are so comfy and I love how the kitchen table and chairs look in our kitchen.

3. Candles

I recently went to Bath and Bodyworks  and picked up two new of single wick candles YUZU with Sugared Lemons, Mandarin, Dewy Waterfruits & LILAC with Lilac, Peony Petals, Lush Green Grass. Smells so good. I need to get more.

4. Shampoo and Conditioner

Love Beauty and Planet‘s Coconut Water & Mimosa Flower will make you think you are on a tropical island. No Joke. I did not want to leave the shower. Can you make a candle please?  They may not be organic but they do claim they  are vegan, cruelty-free, paraben- and sulfate-free, and enriched with organic coconut oil in place of silicones.

5. Tv

My husband  and I have started watching a show together called The Expanse. This is what it’s about.

“Hundreds of years in the future, things are different than what we are used to after humans have colonized the solar system and Mars has become an independent military power. Rising tensions between Earth and Mars have put them on the brink of war. Against this backdrop, a hardened detective and a rogue ship’s captain come together to investigate the case of a missing young woman. The investigation leads them on a race across the solar system that could expose the greatest conspiracy in human history.”

So far its really good and we are already finishing season 2 and I think season 3 will be out sometime soon.

6. Weather

Here in Wisconsin the weather can change multiple times in one day. Lately we have some nice sunny days that are in the 30-40’s with SUN!! On Tuesday we had 50 degree weather and we had the windows opened for a short time for some fresh air. It was so nice.

7. New Shop Items

I am super excited about the new items that will be available  in my etsy. I hope to have them added with in the week. I will have readings and digital prints. I might even have some artwork added as well. Jewelry will be added more towards the end of the month going into April.

Favorite Beauty Products

Here are some products that I have tried and liked. I guess you can call this a quick review of items. Most of the items are ones that I repurchase if I really liked them. Since I have really fine hair, it doesn’t always respond well to certain products. Like oils, its really picky about the type of oil i use. So these products may or may not work for you. 🙂 They are not listed by greatness or any order. Also these are just a “few” that I listed.  I have many more that want to share.
