January Favorites

I cant believe January went by already! Hope everyone is is having a good start to the new year! We are just going to jump right in to my favorites for the month of January.

Pacifica Glow Greens Beauty Powder

So pacifica came out with beauty powders, one for sleep, skin, probiotics and stress. Im not going to lie, when I saw that they were coming out with supplements, I was so happy and wanted to try the one for the skin. I am finishing up my 1st bottle of the Glow Greens and will be opening the a second one in a few days. You don’t even know your drinking greens! It has a lemon flavor and is so good. I drink this every night with my vitamins.

UpSpring Reproductive Support

For a while now I have been battling with some pretty bad hormonal cystic acne along my jaw and chin. No amount of exfoliating or deep cleaners has completely cleared it up even with my spin brush. I didn’t want to be on medication, so I found an alternative solution. So far, I’m on my third bottle and my skin has not had a flare up once. It’s so clear and good looking its unreal. Mind blowing, honestly! I do still get the occasional, what I call pop ups (tiny/small zits that are gone by the next day) but nothing like before where it would be weeks going into months where I would have a cystic zit.

I mainly bought UpSpring Reproductive Support solely to try on the hormonal acne but it also has added benefits for reproductive health, and it also helps with female fertility and  libido. Shatavari helps with hormonal balance, Black cohosh supports increased fertility and pregnancy and Maca with  libido.

Overtone Vibrent Purple

Well I went back to purple hair and used the overtone vibrant purple deep conditioner. It smells so good and minty. I always go back purple, there is just something about purple hair, its my favorite.

Static Nails Glue

Im not sure what Staic Nails does with their nail glue but it is amazing. Their nails are great also but that nail glue is the shit. I also have use the glue with other glue on nail brands and it works just as well. Im talking, these nails aren’t going anywhere for 3 weeks. And did I mention the glue is only $4! I have tried other glues and after a day or two the nails pop off. Right now im trying to use up some of my other glue on nails from kiss and other brands that I have bought in the past before I buy more from Static Nails. But I will be ordering more from them for sure.

New Glasses

So I ordered some more glasses from Zenni Optical. I couldn’t decide between the the black or tortoiseshell cat eyes so I got both, and I’m so glad I did. I love the clear frames also! Not sure which ones are my favorites.

Insert Menstruation Cup Here -Why I Made The Switch

For months I have been wanting to make this post after I made the switch last March from tampons and liners to a menstruation cup. I hated pads, they always felt like I was wearing a diaper. Not to mention in the summer, when it’s hot and sweaty. Ew, no thanks. Tampons did make my periods better and gave me more freedom but there were times they were just uncomfortable, like inside and they can leak. Liners where for the days I knew it will be starting or at the end.

Insert Menstruation Cup Here -Why I Made The Switch

Soo what is a menstrual cup?

A menstrual cup is a type of reusable feminine hygiene product. It’s a small, flexible funnel-shaped cup made of rubber or silicone that you insert into your vagina to catch and collect period fluid.

How to use a menstrual cup

If you’re interested in using a menstrual cup, talk with your gynecologist. You can buy one on online or in most stores, you need to find out what size you need. Most menstrual cup brands have a small and large size.

To figure out the right menstrual cup size for you, you and your doctor should consider:

  • your age
  • length of your cervix
  • whether or not you have a heavy flow
  • firmness and flexibility of the cup
  • cup capacity
  • strength of your pelvic floor muscles
  • if you’ve given birth vaginally

Smaller menstrual cups are usually recommended for women younger than 30 years old who haven’t delivered vaginally. Larger sizes are often recommended for women who are over 30 years old, have given birth vaginally, or have a heavier period.

Before you put in your menstrual cup

When you use a menstrual cup for the first time, it may feel uncomfortable. Before you put in your cup, lubricate the rim with water or a water-based lube (lubricant). A wet menstrual cup is much easier to insert.

How to put in your menstrual cup

If you can put in a tampon, you should find it easy to insert a menstrual cup. Just follow these steps :

  1. Wash your hands thoroughly.
  2. Apply water or a water-based lube to the rim of the cup.
  3. Tightly fold the menstrual cup in half, holding it in one hand with the rim facing up.
  4. Insert the cup, rim up, into your vagina like you would a tampon without an applicator. It should sit a few inches below your cervix.
  5. Once the cup is in your vagina, rotate it. It will spring open to create an airtight seal that stops leaks.

You shouldn’t feel your menstrual cup if you’ve inserted the cup correctly. You should also be able to move, jump, sit, stand, and do other everyday activities without your cup falling out. If you’re having trouble putting in your cup, speak with your doctor.

When to take your menstrual cup out

You can wear a menstrual cup for 6 to 12 hours, depending on whether or not you have a heavy flow. This means you can use a cup for overnight protection.

You should always remove your menstrual cup by the 12-hour mark. If it becomes full before then, you’ll have to empty it ahead of schedule to avoid leaks.

How to take your menstrual cup out

To take out a menstrual cup, just follow these steps:

  1. Wash your hands thoroughly.
  2. Place your index finger and thumb into your vagina. Pull the stem of the cup gently until you can reach the base.
  3. Pinch the base to release the seal and pull down to remove the cup.
  4. Once it’s out, empty the cup into the sink or toilet.
  5. Rise well and make sure to clean any groves.

Cup aftercare

Reusable menstrual cups should be washed and wiped clean before being reinserted into your vagina. Your cup should be emptied at least twice a day. Reusable menstrual cups are durable and can last for 6 months to 10 years with proper care.

How much does it cost?

Menstrual cups are more cost-effective than tampons and pads. You can pay roughly $20 to $40 for a cup and not have to purchase another one for at least six months. Tampons and pads can cost up to $50 to $150 a year, depending on how often, long, and heavy your period is.

My thoughts

Since I have made the switch to my Diva Cup. Holy Balls! It has been a life changing experience. I hardly feel the cup, once I trimmed the stem and it settles in. Honesty I forget sometime I have my period. The best part, absolutely no leaks. Let me say that again. No Leaks. Nothing. You can wear your cute undies and not worry about ruining them. Or the bed sheets. Unless it wasn’t inserted right. Which does happen sometimes and is easy to fix by reinserting.

I have also saved so much money since buying and switching from tampons and liners to my diva cup. You also save on creating zero waste for the environment, since it is reusable. There is much lower chance of Toxic Shock Syndrome, since it is being collected and not absorbed. I really only have to empty it once in the morning and once before bed. I love mine. I can’t express it enough.

I will admit I still have liners tampons leftover from when I was using them and I had stocked up on them. I gave a majority of them to family members. I did keep some for my purse just in case my period starts early and I happen to be out and bout. Since last March I’ve only had to use them once, because it decided to start like 3-4 days early and I don’t like the idea of tossing my cup in my purse, even in its little bag or wearing it days before.

I have said this before but I love mine. It was worth the try and switching. I will never go back to tampons. Ever. I feel any one with a vagina should at lest give a mensural cup a try.

Bloggers Spotlight-Gaia-s

Here is this weeks Bloggers Spotlight, Gaia-s a blogger of environmental protection, nature, and ecology. Basically I sent out a tweet on twitter, asking who would like to be part of blogger spotlight by answering some questions for us to get to know them better.

* Can you tell us a little about yourself and your blog?

I’m Anja Debeljak, a student of Environmental protection science and I used to study ecology. The blog Gaia-s is my outlet for my ever-growing need to share the knowledge and inspire people.

My blog is about environmental protection, nature, and ecology. I aim to share the knowledge and connect people interested in previously mentioned topics.

*What inspired you to start your blog?

Gaia-s is actually my second blog, which I started with an idea to share my knowledge and be at least a bit useful.

My first blog, however, stared out of boredom, that later grew into a bit of a passion, that now formed into Gaia-s.

*Who are your three favorite bloggers or influencers and why?

My fave bloggers are:

– Honey (from http://honeysroyaltybeauty.blogspot.com/) she is my best (blogging) friend and stuck around ever since I started blogging. Also, she makes awesome nail art.

– Charlene (https://twitter.com/blogabtnothing1) and her amazing Beechat. She is super supportive and the chats she hosts are awesome.

-Seeking Science (https://twitter.com/seekingsci) a blog up my alley, I simply enjoy their posts.

*What inspires you to keep moving forward with your blog?

*My wish to share and support from other bloggers. Also, I’m pretty stubborn so that helps.

*What is one piece of advice you would give to someone wanting to start their very own blog?

Blogging is tough; also you can’t expect people to do your work for you. YOU have to work for it, if people help you out, it’s just added benefit. Your blog is you and your passion. People in the blogging community will help you out, but don’t think they are obligated to do so.

Now that I scared you, I can tell you that once you get into it, it can become the best obsession and most beneficial hobby there is. Don’t give up.

November Goals

Its a new month and here are my November goals!

Surpass Octobers views

Honestly ever since I had let my domain expire in march I  have been struggling with views. I was roughly  getting anywhere between 500- 1500 views a month. Now I barely get 100-200. Which is insane. Since buying a domain again, my hope is that I get back where I was last year and earlier this year.

No Spend November

Alright we did this last year so we could move from downtown Milwaukee to the suburbs  and we need to do this again this year. Well, we don’t need to but I want to. Our bank account would like it and I would like new car tires and a washer/dryer combo by tax time.  Yes, we could use our taxes for that but we don’t want to use all of it on that. We would like to save a good deal of it and maybe even put a nice chunk down on our car to speed up the payments. We are already paying it off six months early, because we do split payments. Plus we have a trip coming up in January/February.

Journal/tarot/plan Daily

Just being more consistent with everything. I hardly did anything in September but October was better, 2 out of 4 weeks. But November needs to be better. Period.

Read the books I have and stop buying new ones

Easy enough to understand. I keep buying new ones and not finishing the ones I have. I need to stop. Please someone stop me.

One blog post a week min

Some months I’m really good at blogging and keeping up and some months not so much. I try to stay two weeks, ideally a month ahead but life happens.

More Consistent with @bloggingbeesrt

In case you didn’t know I run Bloggingbeesrt on twitter, which is a RT account. Basically you tag or mention Bloggingbeesrt and I RT you. Very simple. I am still fine tuning  daily threads, so please bear with me. I do run it my self.

Workout

So for October I was planning to a thirty day workout challenge and didn’t. I got a really bad chest cold at that time  and I’m still dealing with the cough but there “nothing” wrong with me. Um okay, bye Felicia.

I would love to hear what your goals are!

Skin Care With Alba Botanica Acnedote

One of my favorite face care lines is Alba Botanica Acnedote. Since using them now for the last 3 months, I have notice such an improvement with my skin. I deal with cystic acne, along the hollows of my cheecks and chin area and what I like to call pop up acne, normal acne that comes and go. I still deal with some cystic acne but not as badly and or as long like before.

Cystic acne is when cysts form deep underneath your skin. This can be a combination of bacteria, oil, and dry skin cells that then get trapped in your pores in your skin and turn    in to a red painful bump. There would be times when I would have a cyst and it would hang out on my face for weeks at a time. The pop up acne never really bothers me since they will disappear on their own after a few days and are hardly noticeable.

I now use most of their line for me face. I use the wipes, face wash, astringent, spot treatment and lotion. Every single night, expect for the spot treatment. I use that only when I need to.  I also will use the face and body scrub that they have to and I really like it but ran out and need to buy another bottle.

I also picked up a cheap spin face  brush from walmart last summer for like $5 and use that with a scrub and face wash. This really makes my face feels clean and smooth. I highly recommend picking up a face spin brush and trying it out.

IMG_5699

Every night I start with the Clean ‘N Treat Wipes to start removing any makeup that I have on my face. After that I then use the Deep Pore Wash to really clean my face and get anything the wipes might of missed. After that I use the Deep Clean Astringent.  Once that dries I use the Invisable Spot Treatment if needed and finish with the Oil Control Lotion.  I still use  The Ordinary’s Alpha Lipoic Acid 5% & The Ordinary’s AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution 2-3 times a week at night along with my other face masks from Formula 10.0.6.

In the mornings I will use  Yes to Cucumbers Calming Micellar Cleansing Water ,  Burt’s Bees Sensitive Night Cream  and the before I do my makeup for the day. I only use the Night cream in the morning because the Oil Control Lotion by Alba doesn’t always sit well with my makeup for some reason.

As I said above, I have found to work well for me and I enjoy the simpleness of it compared to my last skin care routine, which you can find here,  My More Consistent Skincare Routine which I still love all of the products I used.
